However, by using your personal network, you will be able to raise awareness about your home business. Why the need to advertise? If you have an excellent product, you may feel that people should seek you out so they can have the benefits of what you offer. This, of course, makes for poor business. No matter what you do or what you offer, you will still have to promote your products. How will people do business with you if they don't even know that you're in business? Your personal network is an excellent way to jump start your advertising efforts. Your personal network includes, of course, your family, your friends, and your acquaintances. Because home based businesses are invariably small at the beginning, you will need all the help that you can get, so you should start soliciting sales from the people who know and love you. Just because you are selling to your family and friends, it doesn't mean that you can be lax and complacent. In fact, you should probably do more for them than the average customer. (They expect it.) Within reason, do all that you can to satisfy them, then ask them to do you a favor: Ask them to use their personal networks to get the word about your business out. You can use a variety of gimmicks to get your home based business network marketing campaign to a great start. For instance, you might want to provide your friends and family with stickers that they can slap on their cars, or maybe flyers that they can post at work. Or you might give them a healthy stack of business cards that they can give away for you. The key, of course, is to make it easy for them to spread the word. These days, technology makes it easier to advertise. And if you don't believe it, witness the rise of social networking sites like Friendster or MySpace. If you maintain accounts on these sites, you might want to include a few ads on your profile. Alternatively, you might want to buy some ad space in some of the more popular sites on your local community. If you went about it right, it shouldn't be too difficult to get more people to notice you. A home based business network marketing campaign will depend a great deal on what people say about your business, so keep fairly close watch over the grapevine. If you hear any criticism, don't get defensive. Use it as an opportunity to improve. If you take a closer look into network marketing, you will find out that it does not necessarily mean peddling or offering goods and services to your friends or family members. In fact, network marketing is really a system of income sharing and cost sharing. How does a home-based business on network marketing work? Network marketing work by recruiting members who will use the product it is selling. The system is multi-level where a person who becomes a member of the network can recruit a friend or a family member to register under his or her network. Every time the recruit purchases a product of the company, the recruiter gets a commission. The good thing about network marketing is that you do not only get a commission on your direct recruit but also on the purchases of your recruit's recruit usually up to the fourth level. Some networking companies give commission up to the eight level of recruits which really a big advantage if you have a wide network. Many people have benefited for network marketing. People who set up home based business in network marketing have succeed in earning huge income from their networks. The key to success in the networking business is helping each other build a wide member base. A member who helps his or her recruit in recruiting more people would benefit would most likely enjoy the benefits of earning commissions from their recruit's recruit so it is really a good idea to help each other. The many critics who would say that network marketing only makes the people on top of the network rich while those at the bottom will not get anything. Well, that is a matter of opinion. The system is really about pooling of resources by creating a network of consumers. If you build a network, not everybody could be on top at once but everyone will have a fair chance of making it to the top if one will work hard enough. A home based business in network marketing is created to function as a team business, meaning you help each other out. The structure is like a pyramid where the base is bigger than the top. As more people who are added to the base of the pyramid, those who are on the upper portion will be pushed to the top. Every time a line below the pyramid is added, the line above it will reach another level. The idea really is to help each other add more people at the base of the system so that you can reach the top. In effect, as you help those people below you to reach another level of the network, you will also be helping yourself reach another level of the pyramid. You must have a clear idea of what you have to offer. Second, examine exactly how you will be making money, and how you will be losing it. Again, will you be manufacturing, selling, advertising, or combining these processes together? Look into which of these three basic areas will earn you the most rewards with the least expenditure of time and money. As important as understanding your revenues is, you should not neglect your costs. Keep in mind that your costs will have as much to do with your profitability as your level of sales will. Unless you can identify the areas wherein costs can be slashed, you will not be competitive. Third, pinpoint your market. Which group of people will most likely buy your goods and services? The beauty of the internet is it now allows you to reach a wider of group of people than ever before. A home internet business theoretically has the ability to reach every internet-connected computer in the world, at a fraction of what such a service would normally cost. To make the most of this opportunity, however, you must carve out a niche market wherein you can dominate. How you find or create this niche is up to you, but you must undeniably do so if you are to succeed using the internet. Remember, millions of people have the opportunity to do what you are doing, so unless you differentiate yourself from them, long-term success is unlikely.
